Wobble and Squeak Clothing Co. recognises its sustainability and environmental obligations to its staff, customers, suppliers and manufacturers – both locally and globally – and to present and future generations.

We aim to take a leading role in defining best sustainability practice, and will set our own appropriate and demanding standards where none exist.

We are committed to implementing the requirements of all relevant sustainability legislation and regulations and, where possible, exceeding any relevant minimum requirements. This is incredibly important in India, the country we source much of our stock, as regulation from the government is either very poor or, in some cases, nonexistent.

We will do our best to manage activities over which we have control and that impact upon the environment and our workers, in accordance with the principles of sustainable development. Although we are not yet registered as a ‘fair trade’ business we believe that we go the extra mile to ensure our workers are well treated, get regular breaks, are of working age, and we also pay a fair wage to our suppliers.

We do this by visiting the workshops where our stock is being produced, as regularly as possible. This being said we recognise there is always more we can do in this regard, so recently visited a factory that was spinning the newly picked cotton into fabric so as to better understand the working conditions at other stages of the supply chain.

Wobble and Squeak will always work to raise the sustainability awareness of its staff, customers and suppliers by keeping the concept of sustainable development at the forefront of our minds as it always has been. And by openly recognising the on-going need to move towards a more sustainable future by continually looking at our processes and procurement techniques. We are happy people and want everyone we work in partnership to feel the same.

We will continue to monitor our use of natural resources, both non-renewable and renewable, and maximise the efficiency and effectiveness with which they are used, with a view to minimising environmental impacts. For example, we use solar power in our festival live in/stock vehicle and have recently changed all of our stall lighting to low energy LED bulbs and floodlights (July 2017).  We also recycle all of our postage packing bags and encourage our customers to do the same.

Nellie and Robbie both feel very strongly about environmental and sustainability issues facing the world today. Nellie does in fact have a 1st Class degree in Environmental Science from the UK’s Reading University so understands the need to continually improve standards better than most. We will provide appropriate sustainability training and development for our staff, and will encourage them to apply sound practices at work, at home and in their daily lives.

As our planet’s population continues to grow the need to find solutions to the problem of sustainable development and growth will become more and more necessary. Wobble and Squeak Clothing Co. wants to be a part of that solution.
